Public Transport

Korea has one of the best public transport systems in the world. It's also easy for foreigners to use public transport as information (train/bus announcements and signs) is provided in not just Korean but also English and sometimes even Chinese and Japanese.

When using public transport in Korea, it is cheaper and more convenient to use a prepaid transit card that you can purchase and recharge at convenient stores or ticket booths. A single journey ticket is more expensive if you pay by cash in the case of buses and for subways, you must pay a deposit of 500 won which you can get back if you return the card at a refund device after you have arrived at your destination.

Another thing is that with card, you can transfer from subway to bus, bus to subway or bus to bus up to 5 times for no additional basic fare if you transfer within 30 minutes after scanning your card when you get off.
